Join us for a varied and rewarding day exploring two beautiful walks in Nightcap National Park, combining lush rainforest, diverse vegetation, scenic trails and the spectacular Minyon Falls. We’ll meet at Rummery Park Campground and begin with the Byan Yangala Loop (6.6 km), part of the Gidjuum Gulganyi Great Walk. We’ll enjoy the changing vegetation and forest scenery along the track, stopping for morning tea along the way before returning to Rummery Park. Next, we’ll set off along the Boggy Creek Loop (5.5 km), heading towards the impressive Minyon Falls before returning via the Eastern Boundary Trail. Combining these two walks offers a wonderful variety of landscapes and a chance to experience more of this special national park. Prefer a shorter outing? There’s the option to walk just the Byan Yangala Loop and finish back at Rummery Park. Wet-weather alternative: If recent heavy rain leaves the tracks too muddy or slippery, we’ll have a backup plan for a more manageable walk nearby, walking to a beautiful rainforest creek. Mt Nardi: Pholis Gap & Mt Matheson Loop - <6kms - Grade: 3 to 4 There are spectacular views across to Wollumbin-Mount Warning and some of the other mountains of the Nightcap escarpment. Possibility of going further depending on group feedback! Bring morning tea, lunch and plenty of water. Note:- Tuntable Creek Rd is closed for repairs so access will need to be via Nimbin.   The long Booyong walking track follows a historic trail through lush rainforest offering wildlife and birdwatching, in Border Ranges National Park in northern NSW. If you love oxygen-rich rainforests, join us on the Booyong walking track from Forest Tops campground to  Sheepstation Creek campground. This 9km long walk is a perfect introduction to the lush world of Border Ranges National Park in northern NSW. Retracing the historic steps of the old loggers, you’ll pass thick forests of majestic Booyong trees. Look for the birds nest ferns and lilies that grow from the old stumps; a reminder of nature’s ability to restore and reclaim. The dense canopy makes this a great place for birdwatching, so bring your binoculars. Here, you might see the regent bowerbird or the vibrant green catbird with its mournful call. If you’re lucky, you might get a glimpse of the Rufous Scrub-bird found only in these rainforests. We will arrive on Friday night at Sheepstation Creek Campsite and in the morning will arrange a car shuffle to the Forest Tops campsite where we will begin the Booyong walk. It is a 9km long walk so make sure you are ready for this. That evening we will camp again at Sheepstation Creek, and for those who have time in the morning, we will explore the three smaller walks that begin there - Brushbox Falls, Rosewood and Palm Forest. if we are that keen! Please if you could pay your campground fee in cash back to Sandy on arrival that would be appreciated. Expected $30-$50 for two nights depending on numbers.

We will launch from Pioneer Park on Kennedy Drive, Tweed Heads South and follow the high tide up into the estuarine broadwater, then turn into Cobaki Creek for a look. We will return around the other side of the broadwater, which contains many scattered islands. Expect fish, potentially dolphins and a number of raptors with their stick nests. Cobaki Creek is the most northern in NSW. We will be quite close to Gold Coast airport so may have some planes landing or taking off nearby (occasional only). Suffolk Park - Broken Head. 6km. Grades 2/3. An easy 6 km walk from the meeting place at Suffolk Park Community Hall, at the end of Clifford St, along Tallow beach and through coastal vegetation to the Three Sisters lookout at Broken Head. Return along a road for a few 100 m, then through Eucalypt forest/woodland on a bush track with a stop possibly for a swim at a Ti- tree lake (not sure about the water temperature!), and then walk back to the community hall. Save the date. Our party will be at the most spectacular home in the Shire, perched on the edge of the cliff overlooking Main Arm and Mullum. The action starts with a short walk around some secret cascades further up the Range, returning for a BYO lunch at 12.00. Or you can skip the hike and arrive at noon. More deets closer to the event. Departure Sept 1 From Manali (2200m) we begin with a short trek in the mountains surrounding the beautiful Kullu Valley to acclimatise to higher altitudes, and then follow the Grand Shepherd’s Traverse from Kullu to Kangra Valley. The trek is through one of the most remote corners of Himachal Pradesh, following an ancient and remote shepherd’s trail between the Kullu and Kangra Valleys. Beginning in dense forests and alpine meadows above Manali, the trek crosses the KaliHind Pass to the ancient Gaddhi village of Bara Bhangal in Kangra, the most scenic valley in Western Himalaya. Each trekking day is a delight with tremendously varied landscapes and a great variety of Himalayan flora and the possibility of seeing fauna such as brown bear, black bear, fox, snow leopard, musk deer, monkey and the Giant Indian Flying Squirrel. On the trek we pass through remote Gaddhi villages isolated by heavy snowfall for most of the year. There are spectacular views of the rugged Dhauladhar Range especially crossing Thamsar Pass but then on descent, another world; a softer landscape of meadows, forests and the cascading waterfalls and tiny villages hanging on the sides of the mountain slopes. We finish at Bir, a small Tibetan village with a monastery.
