Blue Moon night walk - 30 May, Goonengerry National Park
Goonengerry National Park
17:00 – 20:00
We will walk under the light of the moon and bathe in the forest at nighttime – experience another world. 31st May is a 'blue moon' (second moon of the month) but we will walk the Saturday evening before because the moon rises earlier and gives us greater light in the tall forests. We meet at Goonengerry National Park, walk along an open trail without artificial light, spend 20 minutes at a sit spot, and then find our way through the forest to the waterfall to view Wanganui Gorge in full moonlight. For those who would like to stay on, we'll finish with a hot cuppa. Grade 3 About 5 km 2-3 hours. You will need a headlamp, preferably a red light one for low light, and something to sit on. Glow Worm Tunnel Walk, Burringbar
Burringbar
17:30 – 21:00
We are coming into peak season for gloworms in the 500m long tunnel, who light up the tunnel with an eerie glow. It is an amazing experience. We will meet at Masterton Park opposite the shops in Burringbar about 5-5.30pm, for an optional picnic, or you can purchase pizza opposite the park in Burringbar.  At 6.00pm we will leave the Park to drive up & park at the Rainforest nursery and walk the 1.5km to the tunnel, and then through the 500m of tunnel, and back. There will be a good moon, rising just after 8pm so the walk back from the tunnel will be in moonlight, but please bring a torch for the walk in.  Grade 2: Leader Lindi 0408348135

Starting an at Flinders Way Ocean Shores, we walk North on the Optus trail through Bangalow palms, eucalypt forest,  and paperbark  scrub before diverting east to the beach.  We return from the beach along the Central trail past majestic hoop pines and back to the start of the trail. The walk is about 7km's with some uneven surfaces and probably some creek crossings which will result in wet feet, old sand shoes or sandles are a good option. The walk is grade 2 or 3 and should be easy for most people. It's a beautiful, half day, loop. Bring, shoes that you don't mind getting wet, drinking water, morning tea/lunch hat etc. and swimmers. Wanganui Waterfall, Sat 16 May
Wanganui
08:00 – 14:00
We hike up a steep off-track path for 160 vertical metres and then descend 60m to the top of the Wanganui waterfall. Along the way are expansive views down the Gorge. At the top of the waterfall there are panoramic vistas over Coopers Creek to Goonengerry National Park on the other side of the valley. At the top of the waterfall there are a number of 'spa pools' in the cascades above the falls. Great opportunity for a chilly dip. Bring snacks, lunch and a litre of water. I will email meet-up deets in Wilsons Creek on Friday evening. The forecast is for passing showers like all week. My policy is to get started despite the threat of showers. If it rains so that we are no longer having fun, we will turn back and head for home. Grade 4, Leader Steve 0414 312 917

Bruns to Belongil beach walk May 10 2026
CWA Hall
07:30 – 12:00
We meet at 7.30am at the Bruns CWA and decide if we are walking down or up the beach to or from Belongil. We leave Bruns at 7.45am either way, carpooling as necessary. Low tide is at 8am so the walk will be on reasonably hard sand with the possibility of following the fire trail behind the fore dunes if the mood takes us. The distance is about 10km, this can be surprisingly hard on the feet and sandshoes are strongly advised. Please bring the usual sun protection, including a hat, water, a snack and swimmers. These are unpatrolled and rippy beaches so extreme caution is required if swimming and we cannot recommend it. Having said that, this will be a, lovely morning walk along one of the most beautiful beaches with a chance of coffee and a cafe breakfast at the end. It is recommended for strong walkers who are able to walk reasonable distances at a steady pace. Please text or call if you have any queries Grade 3 to 4 Leader is David Froggatt 0402 470 546

Mount Cobberas
26-04-2026 06:00 – 01-05-2026 22:00
Mt Cobberas 1 and Mt Cobberas 2 are my spiritual hiking peaks, overlooking Cowombat Flat where the Murray River rises. Don and I were introduced to this wilderness area at the southernmost end of Kosci National Park when we were students, by 'old Norm' who ran the Buchan General Store. We are drawn back periodically and would love to share it. You would need to be in Melbourne for an early drive with us on March 12, or driving down from Canberra through Jindabyne that day. All but the last day is offtrack. The twin peaks are around 1800m elevation and they look east over the Byadbo WIlderness area, north to Mt Pilot (1800m ) and Kosci. The VIctorian Alps are seen in the distant west. This is rugged country with the Australian Allpine Walking Trail passing under the peaks to the west.
