Sat 21 June. Special Event - Forest bathing walk to 1000 year old tree and a literary salon.
The Pocket
08:30 – 15:30
Join us for a special event, a forest bathing walk to a 1000-year-old tree on private property at The Pocket, culminating in spectacular views towards Byron Bay. This will be the last opportunity to take this walk, as the property is soon to be sold. Timothee, one of the co-owners who has hosted this walk in recent years, will be relocating to Tasmania. The walk begins at Timothee’s house and ascends a hillside through regenerated and ancient forest. By lunchtime, we will reach the top of the hill where breathtaking views await. In previous years, Timothee has graciously invited us back to his home for tea, and last year, we enjoyed an impromptu reading of original poetry from Timothee and me. To celebrate Timothee and commemorate our last visit to this property, we have decided to hold a literary salon after lunch. We invite you to bring a short piece of nature writing—either by yourself or another author—to read as we gather in Timothee’s warm home. It is fine not to read. Contributions of tasty treats for afternoon tea would also be greatly appreciated. Grade: 3 Distance: approx. 4 km Leaders: David Roland and Timothee Roi Diers Enquiries: david@davidroland.com.au

Drysdale River National Park, WA
13-06-2025 08:00 – 01-07-2025 15:00
Extreme adventure in the remote Kimberly!  Drysdale River National Park is one of the least accessible national parks in Australia. There are no public roads, no airstrips and no tracks: pack raft or seaplane access only.   The park is located in the northern tip of the remote East Kimberley. The Drysdale River flows through a pristine, untouched landscape. This is the kingdom of nature. The Park showcases vast tracts of Kimberley wilderness, and features open woodland, gorges, cliffs, waterfalls and the creeks of the Drysdale River. The real treasure are the hundreds of hypnotic Gwion Gwion figures, an ancient Aboriginal painting style describing a forgotten time of dancing and ceremonies, that are visited in different rock shelters every day. There wil be lots of swimming and every camp is a 'dream' site  Sebastien, our guide from www.notraces-bushwalking-australia.com  is a gourmet hike chef and an expert in the rock art. His trips are an unforgettable experience. He also does a pack-raft trip down the Drysdale as well as remote adventures in other parts of the Kimberly and Kakadu. Check out his website for more info. Excellent value!

Train Street & Station Street
08:30 – 16:00
The Gidjuum Gulganyi is the new 4-day trail from the other side of Unicorn Falls in Main Arm all the way to Minyon Falls. This trail has been 10 years in the planning and is already well-booked for the 4-day version. This is an opportunity to hike the best part of Day 1 as it winds through rainforest around Whiskey Creek, exiting at the MIddle Ridge Rd carpark, about 2km short of the complete Day 1. Expect rich, sweet calls from our endangered Alberts Lyrebird in the dense rainforest gullies. This is a well formed trail with moderate elevation changes, so Grade 3.  Leader Steve 0414 312 917       Assistants Paula 0427 667 791   &   Diana 0408 103 542

Mt Jerusalem Circuit Sat May 24
07:00 – 18:00
A small group of us have spent a number of mid-week days opening up some old overgrown logging trails and a new path through Dave's ( pictured) to create a new day walk (anti clockwise), from Upper Wilsons to the Rockslide, then along the ascending old logging trail to Rockface Rd. We will then use the new path across Mt Jerusalem which takes a brilliant new line just under the ridge line as it winds around the tops of several rainforest gullies. Halfway down the Mountain we turn east onto Wild Dog Rd which becomes a razorback ridge heading for Blackbutt Plateau. In the saddle of this ridge we complete the circle safely through a small cliffline into Dave's and walk the last kilometre on a clear trail back to the cars. We are not sure how long this will take; we may even finish after dark.  So the first attempt will be for a small party of hardened members only. Register your expression of interest and we will have a chat about your suitability. Grade 4 Leader Steve 0414 312 917 Assistant leader Joel.

Mount Jerusalem National Park
10-05-2025 08:00 – 11-05-2025 16:00
From Upper Wilsons we will hike past the intermitent Blue Lagoon (can't guarantee it will have water ) past the bottom of the Rockslide amd then along an easy 'terrace' that takes us to the huge landslide in the very headwater of the Wilsons River. Then there is a steep scramble with plenty of trees and shrubs to grab onto until we reach Rockface Rd. Then it is about 900 metres along the road until we intersect with the new multi-day Gidjuum Gulyani Walk as it ascends Mt Jerusalem. There is a campsite here with permanent water. On Sunday we ascend the 400 sandstone steps to the summit of Mt Jerusalem. There is a new lookout with amazing views over the Tweed Valley. As we descend from the summit we branch off onto Wild Dog Rd which heads towards Blackbutt Plateau. But at the saddle in this narrow ridge, we drop down into Dave Olivers and follow an old logging trail past his macadamia orchard and back to the start. This is the route of our new one day loop but we will be doing it slowly in 2 days with the addition of the Blue Lagoon and visiting the landslide. Grade 4 Leader Steve 0414 312 917 Assistant Phil      Meeting and car sharing at Barbara's, 1016 Wilsons Creek Rd at 8am.
